What is a cabochon? Cabochons are focal pieces used in making jewelry or other crafts and are usually cut from natural stone, but also can be made of glass, plastic or resin. Cabochons usually have a rounded from dome, and a flat back. Cabochons come in many shapes and sizes, including baroque shapes often referred to as "freeform cabochons".
Cabochons can be wire-wrapped into pendants or rings, or set in cabochon mountings. You can also make your own beaded cabochon setting using small seed beads and beading thread.
